This hamster wheel is very durable. I like the clean, simple, visual look. We just adopted a hummy and created a natural aviary. She loves this bike! What we didn't expect was that she would pee on the steering wheel for the first few days. Eeeeeeeeee! Luckily, this wheel is easy to clean and dry! (Luckily she didn't pee in it on days 3 and 4, so we're hoping she just had to get used to the excitement of the new fast thing taking her breath away.) She runs and runs and runs until she can't keep up. And generally silent. The only time it made any noise was when it was too close to the edge of its body and tapped the glass, we just pulled it out and it didn't rock back - the solid wide base is stable and keeps it in place . Ironically, the wheel is a little more elliptical than a perfect circle, but it's so slightly off the mark that we didn't notice until she started walking/spinning. It doesn't appear to have any negative impact on use or enjoyment or performance - it doesn't tip, rattle or wander. It was easy to put together - our 9 year old followed the instructions in the pictures and had no problems (we kept an eye on him to make sure he didn't miss a step). It had 2 mounting options: a lower base for a freestanding wheel or mounting to the side of a metal cage. It even included a double ended screwdriver (cool, another tool for his growing toolbox!). This is a great bike and well worth the $22 we paid for the Revain.
