I was torn between this bed guard and the more traditional bed rail. I liked the idea but was nervous about how it would work. My 2 year old has moved from a cot to a double bed and I want her to be safe. I chose this less traditional approach and am very glad I did! I place it directly on the mattress under the sheet and mattress pad and it stays in place very well. It goes about 3/4 the length of a double mattress, which is perfect. Additional note on this: when he arrived he recommended the use of heated sheets which I was not prepared for. However, my sheets worked well despite not being deep. I was still nervous after installing it that it might not be big enough to hold her safe (and in my experience she sleeps like crazy) but it worked so well! We had no problems at all. And as a bonus, the customer service from this company was excellent. They have been very active in contacting me to make sure I'm happy and everything is going well.
