Many people say that _any_ matte screen protector offers similar functions. You are completely wrong. Matte protectors are not just matte protectors, they are more than just a non-glossy finish; You have to consider the composition of the material and the grain. I've tried several brands over the years and while I've been happy with most, they don't do the Elecom Smooth protection justice. For example, iCarez didn't have any major flaws. It worked better than I expected for the price, but it wasn't until I started using Elecom that I realized it wasn't. actually had something better. Elecom has a physically different texture: tiny indentations versus raised grains. Up close, it doesn't look like the matte finish of a typical LCD screen, but something completely different. You probably won't notice all of it unless you're specifically looking for it. Dazzling dots remain on a white background, but next to the iCarez the dots are much smaller. While the iCarez had almost point-sized spots, the Elecom had them half the size. This is a significant improvement in clarity. The texture is also grippier, although not quite like paper. This will help protect the tip of the pencil. Finally, unlike iCarez, Elecom retains almost no sebum. I used to wipe my handprints with a damp cloth. With Elecom, you can just wipe it clean without water. Elecom's application was a bit tricky. It doesn't go edge to edge, so you'll need to position it about a millimeter from the edge. It was no more and no less difficult than any other screen protector, although it does make the situation riskier with just a chance. Peeling off the top 2 inches and attaching first is probably the best strategy. The blisters will disappear in about a day. The adhesive also wraps around the dust so the particles don't trap air. This is another feature that cheaper protectors don't have. Overall I am very happy with Elecom. You should always be sure that a matte profile is what you need before investing that much money, but the investment definitely shows.
