These kitchen towels absorb moisture and clean well. However, coarse dirt does get into the ribs and a simple rinse and spin will remove the pieces and I'm not sure the machine wash removed 100% of the particles from the fabric either. So while the cloth does a great job of cleaning up the mess of cooked food, I don't recommend using a heavily soiled cloth unless it belongs in the bin. I have used the cloth to clean painted textured walls, doors and my car and have found it does the job very well. It is very durable and washes off normal dirt well, although stains remain after each use.
