Review on πŸ’‘ Enhanced Lighting Efficiency: Non Shunted JACKYLED Fluorescent Replacements Programmed by Alvaro Delic

Poor quality - wires fall out

These tombstones are not universal. I was able to get them to work by upgrading each piece of sheet metal (luminaire) holding the tombstone. I used a bench grinder and a flat file to lengthen the tombstone holder. The width was ok. The second issue is that as other reviews have noted, when using 18 AWG wire I had about 1/3 the failure rate of wires falling out of the tombstone. The handle - if you will, just doesn't hold the wire in the tombstone. Luckily I installed single sided power LED tubes and ordered 50 tombstones to replace all 50 tombstones (right and left) on my lights. However, due to problems with wires falling out of the tombstones, I only replaced the power side of the lamps. My T8 lights are high quality Leviton lights. I have had no problems with them in the 10 years that they have been installed. I replaced the lightbulbs because I had burned out a few fluorescent lights and LED lights are much more efficient. Basically, after upgrading devices, you just use the metal case of the original device. I just hope these new tombstones don't cause any more problems in the future. If I had to do it again, I would opt for double-sided powered LED tubes so I don't have to install non-shunt tombstones. It took about 45 minutes to convert these tombstones per 4 light fixture. I have upgraded other devices with other products, which takes about 15 minutes per device. I'm a DIY retiree; time is not a problem. These tombstones are of poor quality.

Pros
  • UL product: T8 lamp holders are UL listed. They are made from high quality fire retardant PBT material which is very strong and durable, ideal for replacing your old fluorescent light fittings, 100% fire retardant and heat resistant.
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
