So I bought a more expensive smaller rug first and was disappointed. This rug is almost half the price of the smaller one and appears to be the same rug except for the size. It absorbs dirt well and is easy to empty. Some people have asked for granular litter and yes it will hold the granules. The best part is that it catches the fine sawdust that accumulates as the granular filling breaks down. The texture is smooth, so cats don't mind walking on it. A few things I learned: Be sure to buy the largest rug available. (cats jump over smaller mats) and buy, prices can vary widely. All these mats are shipped folded. Just put the rug in a warm place and put something heavy on it for a few hours, it will relax and become flat again. I put mine on the patio in the sun with a flower pot on top, but you can also put them under a charging mat in the boot or trunk of your car on a warm day.
