shoes run normal; However, I was skeptical and ordered a half size larger. They are too big but I will not send them back. I wear a size 8 in closed toe shoes and ordered a size 8 1/2 so I'm just wearing a thicker sock. On days when my feet hurt or swell, I'm sure I need roomier shoes. No blisters or discomfort from wearing the first day. I was so glad to feel the air flow around my toes into the shoes. I stand and walk for 13 hours. one day at work (two jobs, each with different shoes), also at home I stand more without shoes, so I stand a lot. They are easy to put on over the sock without tightening and fast! The upper is soft around the toe and arch, so if you don't need toe squeeze like I do, these shoes are for you. I love that there are no laces to trip over if they come loose. My only complaint is that the heel is higher than the toe so it can bother my back after a few days but I plan to alternate them with other shoes. If you need protection from falling objects, these shoes are not for you. I have a high arch and don't need support, so I'm not sure about that area yet.
