In full light this device shoots excellent HD video with decent sound. I had no problems with that at all. The HDMI output works really well too, so you can just plug it into your TV and watch. The camera has several disadvantages: (1) Poor low-light performance. In low light, the picture is very noisy and looks like you're shooting with a first generation phone camera. (2) bad footage. Not too important as it's not really its job, but important because it can't be your all-in-one. For example, if you are on vacation and want to take great photos and videos, you'd better grab a DSLR and record videos with it. The camera is fast because the baby is doing something cute. Much quicker than unlocking the phone and finding the camera app and then switching to video mode. It turns on and starts recording almost immediately. I also like the retractable USB connector.
