Review on 800CBL5PN Electronic Surface Lighting Halogen by Richard Rob

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great price but they need a load

I just put them on and the process was painless. I am very happy with them. Lightbulbs are a bit cheap? Yes, but 1 - no one will ever notice it from a few feet away, and 2 - to get quality lights, you're paying for them almost as much as you would for this entire set (literally, they cost about $150). everyone). I am very happy with the quality. The only difficulty is going over to LEDs (because everyone who uses halogens today is crazy. I tried a 20w halogen and it was about 25% brighter than the 5w led I had in another socket had). As others have said, the problem is that the transformer needs some traction. Even with all 5 sockets filled with 5W LEDs (very bright btw) the lights flickered slightly. Replacing an LED with a 20W halogen bulb eliminated the flickering, so it appears that at least 45W of input power is required (well, I didn't test all combinations). However, I plan to buy several of these sets and link them together. If 5 x 20w halogen bulbs on one transformer is ok, that means I can run 4 sets of these bulbs on the same transformer, each with 5 x 5w led bulbs. Which is actually quite convenient. And it's all MUCH cheaper than hiring a professional or using more expensive wired lighting systems. and in fact you can get a mod or two that will work great with these cables).

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Expensive
