Here Is a little pastry bag finagle and some magic that the creative spirit needs to thrive. I used a long funnel that is tapered on the top (Purchased at Ebay), and some pine wood I had left over from a cabinet project to make a base for my pastry bag holder. now this does not show the bag in the funnel, but it works great. The base is made of pine wood with holes drilled and then laminated together. 2 pcs., 7X7 inch & 5 1/2 X5 1/2 inch, of 3/4 pine wood, some measuring for the holes on the funnel at the 3/4 depth and the 1 $1/2 inch depth to locate the bit widths needed, and a tapered step bit. 2 different forstner bits, 3/4 &7/8 …3/4 for the bottom piece and 7/8 for the top piece. I measured the size of the holes needed on the funnel at the depths from the bottom 3/4 piece to the top piece at 1 1/2 inches. then I used a tapered step bit to clean out any needed materials to finish the strait holes to tapered holes with my drill press, removing a littler at a time. Inserted the funnel at different intervals to make sure not to clean out to much material for the taper. I routed the top edges and sanded the pieces smooth. The rest of the assembly. I turned the grain of the top piece so it was at 90 degrees crossing the grain of the wood to help stabilize any warpage. Then I glues the top piece to the bottom and pin nailed it in each corner of the 2 pcs togeather. Of Course there is some work involved, but for me, the project took about 2 hours to complete. The end result was perfect for putting my batter in the piping bags. I just folded the bags over the edge of the funnel and made sure the funnel stayed open. Leveling out the bag to the high side of the funnel, using the high side to scrape my spatula on and remove any left over batter.
