I love this 3XL mouse pad, but not for the reason you might expect! The mouse moves well over it, but I have 13 x 28 inches for this purpose. This mouse pad has a special purpose: to protect my board games! Below is a specific rating for board gamers, but this mouse pad isn't just for computers. I would also recommend it as a desk pad. It's of better quality than what I have. The mouse glides better, I like the thickness, the stitching and the high-quality neoprene base. I don't need this size for my desk, although it's inconvenient for me. If you're interested in my application and you're asking, why would anyone care about board games and maintaining pristine condition? This is because they can be expensive (Gloomhaven, Brass, Everdell, Root, Scythe.) and replacing lost or damaged components is not always easy or even possible. Limited Editions, Deluxe Editions etc. It pays to protect what you have. When you get a game at half price, you definitely don't want to replace it at MSRP! When I visit other people, sometimes the table sticks or parts don't slide on the table, and components get bent or damaged. I've been with my parents and family lately (Covid Life, Disability). My parents' cards don't slip. There are kids in the family who might be sticky or who knows what. At friends' houses, there may be food, drinks or condensation from glasses on the table. Danger and risk of injury everywhere! What are the girls supposed to do?! This 3XL mouse pad is the perfect solution! The pillow is nice and thick, with quality stitching. It has a very nice neoprene backing so it stays in place once you put it on. Of course, the surface is waterproof, so if something spills, you'll have to wash it. Plus it's HUGE which is why I wanted it! Be large enough to place any board game components or cards within everyone's reach and provide a smooth, clean, gliding surface. The box it comes in is made of medium-weight cardboard. It's strong enough to store the 3XL rolled up and tucked inside for safe storage and easy portability. No more flinching when a card is crumpled and prompts someone to push it across the table or land on something wet or through leftover food. It was a much more economical option for board games. Of course you can hide all your cards, which are also expensive but offer no protection from other components like wooden meeples and pieces of cardboard. I've read about how other board game players have protected their finishes and a lot has been written about ordering online or going to Joanna and having fabric cut to custom sizes, but given the time, effort and materials this was the best option in Considering time and quality and cost. . Other possible considerations for such a giant mouse pad are poker, mahjong, dominoes and other board games. In fact, this is a great solution anytime you want to protect your wooden table from scratches or damage (unless you're writing or drawing). It's also great when playing on the floor, providing a smooth solution for sliding toys, games or cards across it. I've had it for a few months now and it's holding up well. Very durable. I would buy 1 again as a gift or if mine was damaged, but I don't see the need to replace mine due to issues with the mat itself. A very happy customer!
