Review on πŸŽ™οΈ TASCAM DR-05 Portable Digital Recorder (Version 2): Unleashing Enhanced Recording Capabilities by Chad Boho

Great for recording you making music

My dad is an avid guitar player and he finds it very difficult to buy gifts as he seems to have almost everything already. I don't know enough about his gear preferences to safely buy him a new amp/speakers/etc. to buy. equipment, but I knew he didn't have a quality audio recorder. After doing a little research on the best recorders in my price range (under $200), I settled on this one. My father says he loves. He uses it to record his game and then plays the sound to improve his technique. He also used a tape recorder to record multiple tracks of him playing the same song on different guitars and then edit them together into a multi-instrument record which he played. He played me some of these records and while his taste in music doesn't match mine I can't deny that the sound quality sounds like a CD you would buy in a music store. It's better if you're in a room with good acoustics, and you shouldn't try to use this when there's a lot of background noise (e.g. someone nearby is mowing the lawn or vacuuming the carpet). It also works best when placed on a tripod with rubber feet so it doesn't pick up as much vibration from the surface you place it on. Finally, note that this requires a micro SD card. Didn't realize this when I ordered it and accidentally gave it a regular sized SD card. I gave it to him in December 2012. He still uses it to this day. I don't know if there is a more recent version now.
