I have a pair of Sennheiser wireless in-ear headphones and they sound better. I've tried all earplugs and they all irritate my ear canals. To be honest they hurt after about half an hour! I ordered the Comply foam ear pads. They make the earbuds "invisible” for convenience. As others have noted in their reviews, the bass is also better with matching ones. The problem with the wires is not a big deal. I heated some water in a tea press and wrapped it around it (an empty glass would work too). I brought the water to a boil in the microwave and left the string wrapped around the cylinder for about 8 minutes. The surface was warm, but not warm enough to melt the wire. Now the wire is straight. I burned my headphones by plugging them into a receiver (with adapter) and playing them at normal volume for a couple of days. I really don't see it as a big deal. The sound is much better than I expected. I think they are compatible (quality wise) with my iPod 4th version. I've used $20 skull shaped earbuds before and Klipsch put them to shame!
