Beautiful dress, looks more expensive than its price

Reader's Digest Version : Beautiful dress - looks more expensive than its price (though certainly not to be mistaken for a super expensive designer piece). Fits well and has quite a bit of stretch so it can fit a variety of sizes. Runs just below my knee (I'm 5ft 7in) and has a nice classic look without being matronly or boring. All in all absolutely recommendable! Bottom Line: First off, I'm a tall girl - I usually wear a size 18 in dresses, although sometimes I go up to a size 20 to give the ladies some room in the bust area. I'm 5'7" tall with a short waist and distribute most of my weight evenly although I'm a little heavier in the upper arms and torso. I ordered this in size XXL and has worn it beautifully with and without shapewear, although I prefer the silhouette i received with a corset (there is a corset in the photo) i bought this dress along with a few others for an event i had to attend and it was a clear winner i... wanted something relatively modest that would cover my arms and not make me look like a bridesmaid or mother of the bride. This dress hit the spot - it stretches well and fit my DDD bust perfectly (although I was wearing a mini bra) I haven't had any shoulder problems either, which can be a problem for me sometimes. The tip is soft, doesn't scratch and looks quite durable. It's not too shiny either (at least in the black version),w how cheap lace can be. The bodice and skirt of the dress are made of quite heavy material, almost scuba - I wouldn't wear it without air conditioning in the middle of summer as I'm sure I'll be sweating like a streetwalker in a church. However, it was perfect for a fall wedding. The cut was really good, the skirt flowed great (nice bonus, ok?) and I got a lot of compliments. The only downside (and this is where I criticize) is that the zipper is a bit cheap. Not only was I afraid it might break, it was a bit difficult to zip up even though I had plenty of room in the dress. The rear opening is a little low. I don't think most people (especially the smaller ones) will have any problems but being a busty girl some of my bras have enough hooks that they go too high on my back - I had to make sure I chose the one which I picked up a little further down. Finally, I would LOVE pockets in a dress, but I just love pockets. I knew when I ordered they were out, I just think they would be a nice touch. None of these things deserve a star in my opinion, just something I wish I had known when I ordered.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
