I replaced that awful amount of RAM that originally came with that old dinosaur back when 4GB RAM was expensive. Unfortunately the PC only recognizes 3GB out of the 4GB I bought but overall it was the best value for money as if I bought a 2GB and another 1GB it would be more expensive than two cards with 2GB I received. This is a limitation of the BIOS on the laptop, not the RAM itself. There might be a way to flash the BIOS to recognize an additional 1GB of RAM, but I haven't tried it and the folks at Best Buy Geek Squad did don't try it because I have an unstable battery that overheats and may be prone to fire. So I'm sticking with 3GB. This company has excellent customer service I must add. I had SDRAM DIMM sticks for another PC I bought a long time ago and the RAM broke after a few days and I decided to check out their lifetime warranty and they stick to their lifetime RAM warranty . They sent me new sticks and I sent the old ones away.
