Review on πŸŽ™οΈ THRONMAX Zoom Adjustable Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand - Durable Steel for Radio Broadcasting, Voice-Over & Sound Studio on Stages by Ryan Frazier

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not suitable for Shure SM7B: too weak and disturbing loops.

I bought this for my Shure SM7B microphone and sent it back immediately. for reference, the SM7B weighs 1.6 lbs but is within the weight limit). It was as tight as I could get with the tension arm. Second, the loop at the end of the mic is too big and blocks using a standard XLR cable with my mic. What I mean is that you can plug in the jack but there is a lot of side loading on the jack and you can no longer rotate the mic. Other booms can also have this problem with the SM7B (like the RODE PSA1 boom) and an extension tube might solve it, but that would be an additional $8 piece that could have been avoided if the pivot was smaller.

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Out of fashion
