Bring back the function wheel, Canon!

I received this camera to replace my stolen SX-280. Revane suggested this as a 'newer model' of the same camera. My two main needs are shooting photos for my food blog (the Canon's color temperature is spot on for that across the line) and shooting movies and telephotos of sporting events for kids. The benefit of the latter is that the zoom is 25x versus 20x on the 280. (By the way, when I get a new camera, I immediately turn off the digital zoom. You don't want extra noise in the picture. Just use the optical zoom and if you need to get closer, you can edit your photo afterwards.) The reason, why this review has three stars is because Canon made the terrible decision to remove the dial on the back of the camera (needed). to toggle between Auto, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, etc.) and moves these settings several levels deeper into the OSD function menu. There's a lot of good stuff in there - there's now a fisheye mode, for example - but you'll need to be shooting with a manual to use them. The 280 was a point-and-shoot device that had additional features available when you needed them. It's still a good idea, but I'm afraid most people (including me) won't put much effort into learning more complex features. Also, I was hoping to use wireless which never worked for me on 280. Unfortunately I'm on an Apple platform. There is no software for my operating system (10.11) and touch and transfer is only for android. It would be great to send photos to my computer wirelessly, but I can't. UPDATE: After spending some time with the guide, I found that Canon had actually removed the Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority features entirely. Instead, you have to choose one of the many special programs, e.g. B. Nighttime Handheld, with which you can only control the settings to a limited extent. If you liked the idea of using a very low aperture so only part of your image is in focus (e.g.) then this isn't for you anymore.
