These things LOOK solid! I've already done 2, same problem. I bought this because it looked like a solid upgrade from the plain black cable that came with the headphones for my Sennheiser DH 558 (which lasted me about 2 years). I'm quite mobile when I'm in the office so I like it has a 3 meter cable, my daughter jumps on a yoga ball when using my computer. this means that sometimes the cable will twitch or kink. After 2 years the original cable broke internally and started transmitting sound to one ear only. This replacement cable, which I originally ordered in July, lasted about 5 months before similarly failing. So I ordered a new one in February, I blamed (perhaps too soon) my daughter as she is more active in her movements when she is young. Anyway, this last one lasted less than 3 months before failing again in a similar fashion. It looks like the weak point is near the jack that connects to the earbud. I've temporarily found that turning it a bit to tighten the internal wires works. They're advertised as upgrades and appear to be more durable than the original, but my experience so far has shown that's not the case yet, although I understand we're putting a little more value on them than some can budge, we do Don't pull the cable, don't twist or twist it intentionally, and we don't strain it even when we hang the headphones by the cable, so I'm really at a loss why this can't handle the factory cable has withstood 2 years
