Dr. Bronner's is completely transparent about all of its ingredients and contains no toxic chemicals - only botanical ingredients (ingredients derived from plants). Also, soap foams nicely and lasts a long time when used in dispensers that add air as they pump to foam the soap as it comes out of the dispenser. It can even be used as a laundry detergent, but you'll want to use it straight out of the bottle for that purpose, or you'll be pumping the soap dispenser for a while to get enough. Most (almost all) soaps, shampoos, detergents (and many other toiletries) on the market today have proprietary chemicals to create "fragrance". These chemicals are NOT tested by the FDA or FCC and in most cases their ingredients are not even disclosed to those authorities or consumers as there is a loophole that allows companies to hide all of these ingredients behind a generic word on the ingredients list. called "aroma" or "smell". 95% of the chemicals used in fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. These include benzene derivatives, aldehydes, and many other known toxins and sensitizers (allergens) that can cause cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders, and allergic reactions.
