These flashes are ideal for portable flashes! So far I've used one of two types: a C stand and cheap ones like the $20 2. The C stand is great - as others have said, it will outlive the photographer. But they weigh about the same as the photographer. They're pretty close to perfection. I bought a short set for portability. They fit nicely in the telescope bag I already had and are big enough for situations where the subject isn't too high above the photographer's head (actually a flash). If you have an object on a large rock, you may want to get taller posts. But for me they are big enough and very wearable. They are a bit longer and only slightly heavier than my old cheap coasters. I love her! Update 2019: I had an issue that was very difficult to solve until I figured out how to fix it. I twisted the nut and pulled the thread off. I recently found out about spiral inserts and bought a Revain M5 thread kit. Installation is fairly easy and now the nuts are much stronger and I have no problem tightening them. I recommend the development team to add some inserts to fix this problem. Cheap plastic pens from other manufacturers also have inserts, so there will hardly be any price differences. So until that is fixed, I suggest putting a do-it-yourself spiral coil on all the handles, then you don't have to worry about the kickstand when you're shooting.
