We had kittens and we separated the mother and her babies from the other two cats and gave them a separate room from birth. After almost 2 months this pen has helped the cats a lot to get used to each other. We put the mother and kittens in the living room and two other big cats walk by and sniff them. The kittens inside were mean at first because of the curious cats. A few hisses, which is normal, no slaps or growls. The next day or so - still curious but now the kittens wanted to go outside and play with them! We zipped it up, kept an eye on it, and one by one the kittens came out, ignoring the others. The big cats came and sniffed and went on their way. More days and they were like big brothers. Soon the big cats entered the pen and started hanging around. Maybe they were jealous of the "tent". Now the kittens are in new loving families, so this pen has unfortunately retired and has served its purpose.
