All parts came as pictured, unfortunately we mainly use the rubber band set. It's a cheap plastic that's difficult to use, and because the loom color is pink, it's difficult to see the patterns in your elastics. We purchased a $10 clear plastic rainbow loom and metal tipped weaving needle, which is of the highest quality in every way. This is a gift, but the rainbow loom is more fun. My second year loves making these bracelets but prefers the rainbow loom so it just took a backseat. The protruding needle is cheap plastic and bends easily, I'm afraid it will break. It's also semi-sharp and bulkier for storage. There is no website link in the guide to beef up the guide where the rainbow loom works great. Kids are tech savvy these days and use videos to find out that this loom is outdated and the instructions for some have been lost. Of course I would be confused if I had never done this before and used this set.
