I have two 40" Samsung UHD TVs that I bought to use them as monitors. They look great and are a lot cheaper than panels of the same size and quality sold specifically as computer monitors. This arrangement has one major disadvantage: when the TVs go into standby mode (or I change the inputs), the computer interprets this as a monitor going off. Windows 10 then decides to randomly shuffle all my open windows across the rest of the monitors (which are real computer monitors and therefore beep even when idle). Every time I went back to my computer the desktop was a mess, harsh and brutal, at times I would stack and resize most of my windows onto a 1024x768 portrait display which I mainly use for Winamp only. But I digress. Because of these EDID emulators constantly transmitting EDID information to the computer, I can switch inputs on TVs, turn them off, unplug them, or take them to a car wash. Windows doesn't see fit to re-detect them every time I go back and turn them on because it thinks they never left. So I give the Gofanco Prophecy 4K EDID emulator and feeder a full five stars for this particular purpose. They saved me a lot of hassle and a lot of money by buying some fancy custom monitors. (Nonetheless, QLED is actually pretty terrible, so you'd better buy a 'real' monitor, or of course an OLED TV. Just a note before you fall down the same rabbit hole as I did.) (There are also ways to use it in the Fix software with some graphics cards, some driver packages, some registry changes, 5 crows and 8 eyes of newt This hardware solution seems like a much easier and more reliable way to fix the problem, unless you have a Quadro graphics card that you probably have, no. Of course not.)
