I purchased five pairs of these socks before shipping them to Marine Corps OCS. They held up well and protected my feet well even when worn with boots that were just broken in. The socks hug the feet and don't slip (provided you choose the right size) although I found they didn't support the upper part of the shin well and could slide down, but that could be due to the elastics on the boots. Overall I highly recommend wearing them with boots, especially military style boots. Some people didn't bring lined socks and instead wore issued socks (which are terrible: no boot lining and cotton blend) and their feet paid the price (blisters, blood blisters, infected blisters, rashes, etc.). If your goal is to take good care of your feet, this will surely help.
