I had some nail damage from chemical exposure in the 1980's, so my nails grow with ridges, some with fainter spots or curves. It all looks pretty boring, but then I developed a bad habit of just ripping off the broken part of the nail with my teeth. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it. Now it's become a bad habit and I don't even realize I do it when I'm distracted, like reading. Next thing I know, my nails were bitten. Bad habit and with so much focus on constantly washing my hands I really thought it was time to buckle up and give it a try. Not just to make my nails look better, but also because it's disgusting to think about what germs are getting into my mouth with my fingers. I used to have some sort of nail bite treatment, but it was applied like nail polish and peeled off quickly. I would have left flakes on my nails that looked worse than if I chewed them. This product also applies like nail polish and doesn't come off as easily. After washing the dishes and mopping the floor, I noticed that two of my fingers were unstained. It looked like it had worn off and wasn't as shiny as when it was first applied. It doesn't look bad as it is transparent and not shiny. Even though it's worn down two fingernails, I've licked them and there's still something bitter inside. Suffice it to say my fingers are where they shouldn't be - in my mouth. This came at a time when my nails are growing well and I need to keep them short for now because they get frizzy. under or breaking in weak spots, i will work on using this varnish. I have an Emory board that I carry in my pocket. So if I get a roughness that I used to try to smooth out with my teeth, I can file it down. I doubt my nails will ever look good enough to polish. I'm severely allergic to fake nails, gel nails, any glue used in nail extensions, and even nail polish that's left on my nails for long periods of time. Because it's not the same as nail polish that's applied just like that, it allows my nails to breathe. I didn't react to nail polish. Of course I notice it when my fingers are in my mouth. I'm convinced that if I follow this rule, I might not have model nails, but they should look better. The bitter taste isn't harmful, it just helps the wearer realize that their nails are where they aren't. It should have been. It's also safe for children. Later - my hands were constantly in soapy water and without, and after a couple of days the varnish wore off. The bitter taste disappears, so I recommend refreshing it every day.
