My Lenovo laptop's internal WiFi card is connected at 70Mbps to 100Mbps but is only connected to the 2.4GHz band. My Netgear 1GB dual-band router works on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and after much research it turned out that Lenovo doesn't make an internal Wi-Fi card that would use the 5GHz band . TP-Link USB is permanently connected to the 5 GHz band. on average 130-170 Mbps. It's easy to set up and Windows 8.1 recognized it right away and installed the appropriate drivers for it. The USB cable is a plus, allowing you to position the USB device away from your laptop or PC if you don't want to plug it directly into your laptop/PC's USB port.
