Tent flexes a lot under strong wind

This tent works ok in mild breeze, but like several other reviewers say,on a windy day the tent will deform and flex around quite a bit. This is probably because the flat raw steel posts used that are meant to be easy to twist and fold, that's the same reason that makes them vulnerable to flex around in strong wind.If you have filled up all the sand pockets, and wind is 16mph or less, the sand pockets will help keep the tent in place even while the flat steel posts flex around under wind pressure.NOTE:Once any stronger wind moves the sand pockets out of their positions, the tent will lose its shape and even collapse since the steel posts flex so easily under strong wind pressure. On the beach the metal stakes won't hold well in strong wind, so you'd need to use more sand pockets (purchase separately) with the wind resistance cords to keep the tent in shape, or special spiral stakes that won't slip out from under the sand. This tent won't work very well if you expect to use under strong wind. With strong winds even if you have extra sand pockets to keep the tent in place, the tent will flex in shape a LOT.Only reason I'm using this tent is that the folded diameter is around 21" which barely fits the luggage. Otherwise, for this size, stiffer fiber posts hold the tent's shape a LOT better (but foldable tents with fiber posts are bigger as they are stiffer and you can't fold them into smaller sizes).Folding the tent works if you follow the video, but it is a bit messy to fold - you have to fold sideways (check the video).

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • May not fit comfortably in crowds or busy beach areas
