I bought my version of this radio (Lifelong brand) from Walgreens for about $20. The benefit of buying from a store is that you can turn it on and make sure the radio you bought is working (AM/FM/weather etc and charging). It comes in a plastic carrying case that gives you access to the knobs, switches and crank - a big plus for me. I never put batteries in mine - I only use them with a handle. Maybe I have too much time. on my hands, but I can get about 6 minutes for every ten turns of the little knob (i.e. 100 turns = 1 hour, 50 turns = 30 minutes,...). I've never seen a "full" light come on
