Incredible and spicy!

In low light conditions and moving subjects, this tool is designed to capture consistently crisp and sharp images. With the D3 I learned how to use the center focus point to capture the "perfect moment" during the action - sometimes it was "spray and pray" hoping the right moment was captured. On the D5, I find group autofocus the most useful. It uses a 5-point diamond pattern to track the subject; They work together to keep focus as a single point and avoid misfocusing on the background. 3D and autofocus also take precedence over the surprisingly accurate Face ID. For BIF, I mostly use 25-point dynamic autofocus. For static subjects and controlled lighting, I think you can get better images from the D810, giving you larger files and better dynamic range at half the price. Find the right tool that works for you!-------------------------- --------- ----------------------------------------------------- -- ------------ --------------Updated with D3s which has served me well over the years. Read these concerns about dynamic range and ISO invariance. While the discussion is interesting and thought-provoking, does the final product end up looking good? After taking several thousand shots this week, two things immediately jump out at me. Firstly, pictures taken in difficult lighting conditions and therefore at high ISO are simply stunning. Maybe it's because I'm using D3s, but it's also good for low light. For sport swimming I often use ISO 9000-15000. Images have noise but can easily be cleaned up in post-processing. Second, the focus technology is amazing! Auto-ranging in D3s isn't very good for capturing randomly moving objects. I have often used single point focusing and sometimes it worked. With the D5, I am blown away by the number of frames that are in focus in Auto Area AF mode. 153 focus points are cool, and the main thing is the face! I also really like the group focus mode for fast-moving subjects. This camera is designed for those who shoot in difficult lighting conditions and with moving objects. If your work/work/images are used in these cases, this is the right tool for you. D5 paired with my 70-200 28 is just magic. The build is solid, as with all other Nikon D-series cameras. I'm not a video shooter so this isn't an important feature for me. I have absolutely no regrets!
