I'm allergic so I take the air I breathe seriously. I'll admit I've been a fan of Honeywell air filters for a while, but when it came time to buy a serious HEPA air filter I did some serious research. To my almost complete lack of surprise, the Honeywell HPA300 consistently took first place for my purpose and price range. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered my HPA300 unit from Revain and it arrived quickly as expected. Set up was as easy as expected. Remove the filters from their positions in the air cleaner. Take them out of the packaging and put them back. Turn on the device, set the desired level and let it do the rest. It couldn't be easier. I ran it on the highest setting (non-turbo) and was very happy with how quiet it was, but also with the nice white noise it gave off. The airflow seems perfectly adequate and I've found that my coughing and sneezing has eased somewhat in the late summer and fall. I was once again the proud owner of Honeywell. However, the day after purchasing my first unit, I realized that I had miscalculated my seat size compared to the HPA300's coverage (which already seemed fairly generous). Since I was so happy with the first air filter, I decided to do everything I could and buy a second one for my bedroom. All the positive things I said about the first device ordered apply to the second one once I've received it. Also the dimming function is FANTASTIC for the bedroom. In my main living area, I just leave the lights normal. However, in the bedroom I prefer total darkness whenever possible and the dimmer knob allows me to do just that. Great performance nonetheless, bright blue light keeps me awake. In summary, this item is made with the quality I have come to expect from Honeywell. It was easy to unbox and set up and I love the pre-filter they run before air gets into the real main filters so they run more efficiently for longer. Also, the filters are very easy to reach with the simple locking front panel design they used in this device. My only problem with this device isn't a problem with it, it's with Honeywell. Their filter and pre-filter replacement options are expensive and can make filter changes more painful (basically pre-filters than necessary). I couldn't make this a problem by buying a third party filter and pre-filter replacement kit Same performance as branded filters at a cheaper price Even better, the one I bought comes with 3 main filters that are recommended to be changed annually, plus 4 pre-filters cut to exact size needed so I'm insured for a year with no mess or fuss whereas Honeywell sells pre-filters that you have to cut and it's just not worth my time or energy looking for a HEPA Looking for an air filter that looks good, performs well and will most likely last you a long time, buy this one (or two if you're like me). However, when it comes to changing the filter, do a little "compare". Shoppingโ and save yourself the hassle.
