Not velvet, velvet does not shed lint like that.

This is sold as a velvet but it is really just a heavy felt. It offers all of the lint of a heavy felt and it doesn't take much to have a mess. This is after rubbing it a couple of times towards the gathering lint. It is not very high-quality in my opinion. In fact, it's not even velvet.
