Review on πŸ”˜ FEMELI Record Weight Stabilizer - Low Profile Turntable Weight Clamps for Vinyl Disc LP Record Players, Silver by Evan Larson

It works and looks great!

I admit that I was a bit skeptical about the real use of stabilizers, so I decided to try one of the cheaper varieties first. If you don't have old records and mainly use heavy 180g records, you don't need the Femeli Record Weight Stabilizer (or any other stabilizer). However, if you have old vinyl records or lighter vinyl records, the stabilizer will significantly affect stability and sound quality. I have an old JVC QL-Y5F table with an electromagnetic servo tonearm which is already responsible for the buckling, but I can still hear a significant difference to my older/lighter vinyl when playing back to back with/without a stabilizer test. I have a high end (heavier) version of the stabilizer and it seems like the perfect combination of size and weight, especially for those with high torque direct drive tables. If you're using a belt-driven stage, I'd probably recommend using a lower-profile (lighter) stabilizer (or even a clamp instead of a stabilizer), especially if you don't have a tilt adjuster to adjust speed. In this case, too, this additional load on the spindle can lead to premature belt wear. It's also worth noting that clearance can certainly be an issue on tables with flat dust covers. My QL-Y5F is a large table right from the start and has plenty of room even with the lid closed. Overall Femeli made me believe in the usefulness of stabilizers and the build quality is very good for the price. It fits perfectly on the spindle, has a high quality felt backing to protect your vinyl, is perfectly balanced and won't wobble. After using it for a few weeks I see no reason to upgrade. It's a keeper!
