Good dock for use with Thunderbolt 3. Just note a few features

A friend and I use these docks with our Dell Latitude 7480 Ultrabooks, both of which have Thunderbolt 3 and are portable View info USB and charge via same USB-C cable After installing the DisplayPort driver on both laptops according to the instructions that came with them and restarting the PC, everything worked plug and play, with a few features that I will discuss below: First, on the docking station Die Station has no switch, which means you have to plug it in AFTER the computer is turned on. While you can reboot with the dock attached, you must perform this "reconnect" procedure anytime after turning off your computer or some of your devices may not be recognized by the dock. Second, there are some scenarios where Windows 10's ability to support multiple monitors with different font scaling and resolutions may be somewhat impacted when using this dock. While my setup with a 1080p display on a laptop and two external 1080p monitors connected to a docking station worked as expected (can set font scaling separately for the laptop and my external displays separately easily), my friend's laptop did Display is also 1080p, but the U3415W as an external monitor was a bit fancier. When we first connected the dock to his computer, his external monitor also displayed 1080p, well below the monitor's native resolution. (3440x1440). To get everything working properly, we'll set the resolution and font scaling for the external display in Windows, then undock the laptop and reset the font scaling for the smaller laptop display. From that point forward, the two displays worked properly when used separately, but when the laptop is docked with the display open it still attempts to scale the larger display to match. While this wasn't a factor in my friend's scenario, be aware that this can also happen with your setup, especially if you're trying to mix and match resolutions between your laptop display and external displays. I am very happy with these docks and would recommend them (or the USB-C Triple Display Dock with Charging/Power Delivery for certain Windows and Mac USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 systems) to anyone looking for a good Dock Thunderbolt 3 station is looking.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
