I think it goes without saying that flocking makes beautiful Christmas trees, but you can do other things with it. First let me say that it is easy to use and comes with a good instruction manual. But hey, you can go your own way and get creative. I wanted a more natural look, as if the tree was outside during a snowfall. So I mixed some PVA glue (good advice from others) and water in a spray bottle and sprayed a portion of the wood at a time. Then drop the flocking onto the branches. Then sprayed again to set. I went back to some spots and added more flocking. Now for the wreath. It all started with a $2 wreath from a thrift store. I flocked it and then added decorations I already had. Finally the illuminated village. It was boring. So I sprayed a mixture of water and glue on the buildings and trees and then threw snow on them. I used thin cotton for "snow" on the floor but it wasn't pretty. So I sprayed glue/water on a plastic bag I had spread out on the garage floor, then sprayed some flock on and sprayed again. I didn't flock too thick. When it dried I was able to peel off the plastic completely and got realistic looking snow.
