Simple concept. Increases the versatility of the tripod.
I bought this to make astrophotography a little easier. This will add about 7-12 inches to the height of the camera mount. I only need the minimum draw length. Now I can tilt the lens up and stand under the viewfinder. It's easier for me to adjust settings and view images on the LCD and then make adjustments as needed. The extension also allows you to increase the range when the speaker is turned sideways, making it easy to extend the camera beyond the legs. Overall it gives me more options to work with a tripod. Not bad for $11.
