I bought this basket to mount on the side of the console that contains our player and receiver to use as "used" storage for recordings use. Our living room doesn't have room for all of our vinyl records so we needed a place where we could select 10-15 vinyl records from the library and bring them in to listen and play, which is perfect. No matter what disc is currently on the player, it will be output so you can see the face of the album being played. Just awesome. It is durable and beautiful, and the wires are fully finished. I don't know what it's made of, but the wires look like brushed, powder-coated steel. It was easy to install in a wooden cabinet and came with a few extra fixings (drywall anchors, etc.). The one I received also came with a rather nifty little Lucite closed level which, after hanging the basket, I immediately used to level the platter myself. Literally nothing is leveled in our old farmhouse, except maybe this basket and also the turntable. FYI: The mounting holes are only on the top of the basket, and since it's going to be carrying quite a bit of weight (plates stack up), I tightened the screws snugly. Since there is no bottom anchorage, the tightened top bolts have ensured that the bottom of the basket does not lie flat on the surface, but is held by tension 1cm from the vertical surface. When I installed it I thought it would bother me, but now that it's being used it's not noticeable at all. This is definitely great disk storage.
