I've been struggling with a leaking damper for weeks after the valve there deformed. The flat lip that actually forms the seal is curved to the point where it doesn't protrude far enough to completely close the hole. I went to THD and bought one of their universal clasps which is a piece of rubber and a chain. It worked fine for a week. I smeared petroleum jelly on it and it lasted me a few more days, but the water in my toilet kept leaking every few minutes. I think this solved my problem with the running toilet. And just based on the design I can say this is a much better valve than those crappy rubber valves. It is a hard plastic case with a soft silicone rubber gasket. The hard plastic that makes up this valve will not deform. Now I know what to do if my valve is leaking. Can't comment on durability as I only got it today, but if I live a few years and need to buy another I'm fine with that.
