I have two of these heads. The fluid head works smoothly and the locks provide movement without the need for hard tightening. I love how the latches can be squeezed tight enough to hold the 3-pounder Nikon P1000 steady while still allowing for smooth pan and tilt. I really like the safety lock that prevents the QR plate from accidentally slipping out of the clamp. A complaint. The first head I bought a few months ago has an adjustable QR plate locking tab that is spring loaded so the tab can be pulled out and repositioned to suit the user's needs. Good. There is no such function in the last head. Instead, the locking tab has no spring. The tab has a small protrusion that moves in a semi-circle arc. Thus, the protrusion can only rotate 180 degrees to hit the rod, tightening or loosening the QR plate. But the tongue doesn't tighten properly. To fix this I removed the tab from the screw part and sawed off the bar. The tab can now be rotated so that it rests against the bar to squeeze the QR plate firmly.
