Bought this to tow a 1500 lb off-road trailer of camping gear. The stem that attaches directly to the hitch is made from 5/16" steel (measured with a steel gauge). The outside weld that connected the stem to the extended receiver (the part that attaches to your trailer). , looked pretty good. no holes in the weld or spots that it was too thin. I didn't see any "internal" welds in the receiver. So I broke my welder and added some internal welds so the Stock and receiver are now welded around the outer joint and at the inner joint, so it should be stronger. The rest of the product (both the tow receiver and the second/non-tow receiver) is 7/32" thick, just under 1/4". There was a lot of "peeling" or wobble between my car's side clutch and the stock. I welded the bead around the perimeter and ground it in a bit and now it fits snugly with a little play. The tow receiver is tight on mine e Proper hitch attached and my bike rack fits on top receiver with reasonable wobble. So note that for $35 on Amazon you might need to make some modifications to make it work better or more securely depending on your application. Buying the materials to build something like this would cost more like $80 plus my time to make, so winning the $35 piece is easy. Unsubscribe if it fails or negative popup appears during off-road driving.
