My child is 2 years old and gets out of his bed at every opportunity, it went so far that I dropped his mattress and he landed on the floor. Somehow he managed to get out. So I tried that and it works. The zipper is out and he can't open it, he says "tent" and looks forward to getting inside. Just keep in mind that this is a breathable mesh that can tear easily, especially zips. I don't think my son has noticed yet because he would have opened it and crawled out of his crib.
