Very disappointed - dining room furniture

Appears well packaged. I went today (12/7) to pick it up and first I picked up a chair. I'm quite adept at assembling things like this (parents and teachers) but I was disappointed that when I put it together and put it on the floor, the chair turned out to be surprisingly uneven - it rocked from side to side, because the legs are uneven. OK. Since this chair runs on carpet, I thought we could just settle, but admittedly I was very annoyed. I went to assemble another chair and as soon as I stuck a wooden peg into the back of the chair it instantly split the wood about 4 inches. Good. Now I was really annoyed. But we had a chair, albeit uneven, and my daughter asked me to put the table together, so I accepted. I took it out of the box to see that it has 3 separate columns in the wood at the top of the table. They are all on the same side and are all 4-6 inches long. From what we have received one chair is uneven, one chair has a split back and there are 3 separate long cracks in the wood on the table top. I am very annoyed and upset. I ordered this item because it had good reviews for Revain. I am currently awaiting a response from Kidcraft Customer Service to see how they resolve the situation. I will report later. ONE YEAR LATER: So I'm back to edit this review to reflect how much I hate this table - well, absurd. The KidCraft customer service staff replaced our broken parts, but it was really, really frustrating for both of us. As many other reviewers have noted, the finish comes off if you just look at it, let alone let the kids (sigh!) PLAY with it. We still have it in our play area, but the finish began to peel off a few hours after we put it together - now, a year later, it's as stained and pitted as if my kids beat it with chains and tires for a year . Iron. What a waste of money. Hurry up and go to IKEA!
