My older dog has a hot spot that he is constantly licking and picking on his front right paw, so I wanted to give him something less uncomfortable than a cone. His brother is in a very serious condition because he has wounds on his legs from poking around, so I wanted to make sure we could prevent it from getting worse. I was worried he might still be able to reach it since the wound is so accessible to him, but it fit just right so he couldn't reach it (it's his "thumb" on the paw, not sure if that would work) . if the hot spot was on top of his paws.) If you have a dog with a longer snout and a wound farther from the head this should work, but I would try this before committing. It feels like an air mattress and the loops on the inside where you place the collar prevent it from being removed. He sleeps and lies down in it, so it's definitely comfortable and very cute. Highly recommended and no doubt it works on cats too :)
