It started out as a two pinion adapter. When used with headphones, all sounds created background hum, especially at low volumes. This noise was quite annoying and made listening with the adapter installed much less pleasant. The hum is no longer an issue because after less than a week of use my phone says it can no longer detect this accessory and the audio will not play. headphones when in use. I tried it on my wife's iPhone and with different headphones the result is the same. It still works as a charger but what's the point as I can just plug the charger cable directly into the phone without this adapter for the same or better results. In less than a week it will be useless.
