RUN NOT BUY!

This is not the inverter you are looking for unless you want one that will blow its mosfets and caps on first use! I rarely have to write bad reviews, mostly because I rarely order anything that doesn't have a good reputation, but I do spend a lot of time looking around and trying to find the sweet spot between price and reputation. I screwed up and you should learn from my mistake. Overload protection DOES NOT WORK. Every other inverter I have gracefully shuts down if you run something too big for that. First, the device I was trying to run shouldn't be close enough to charge this inverter. A 250w motor which must start peak well below the 2k peak peak rating of this inverter. Turned it on and enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks from this device. I had large cables that connected very firmly and securely to a very good deep cycle battery that was less than a year old. This thing seemed short on the inside, my battery showed 12.8v before plugging in, and after the fireworks and about 60 second shutdown it dropped to 12.1v. Do you know how much shorting it would take to break the Voltage from a large battery so fast? It could actually damage the battery. I looked inside, only one of the four fuses was blown, and there are burnt mosfets in my photos. I can see a small thermistor on the far left taped to the case and it's certainly intended to be used by some device to detect overheating conditions on the FETs, but the problem is that they require constant massive overloading would before the heat would spread so far. and the thermistor read that, you would probably have to overload for a few minutes, and my felts blew in about 2 seconds. Bad and probably dangerous design. I've been trying to find the best value for money in a high power inverter, but obviously this is an area where trying to save money just isn't possible. I'm (obviously) returning this in a heartbeat and will be shopping again, but perhaps at more than double the budget to get something branded and reputable. These high power inverters run too much current to risk being cheap and I don't want to get burned again.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Something different
