Poor design
The part that goes against the tie is too thick (needs to have a more acute angle) if you pull hard the thickness of the tool will pull the tie away from the part you are attaching so that You can't make it very tight. I would look for a tool with a "sharper" angle on the face to give it a better grip on the tie.
