My giant senior dog has a weak hindquarters which not only causes traction issues but also drags his paws which causes claws on his toes to wear out and bleed. Heavier shoes are good for walking but too big for the house. Also, you have to be very careful that anything you wear for a period of time is breathable, or you'll get a nail infection (learned the hard way). I have tried many different socks which have been good but wear out quickly and slowly fall off as you walk. These socks are *amazing*. The extra sticky pads on the top, not just the bottom, shine - they greatly improve traction and also seem to keep the socks from wearing out as quickly. And the ankle strap, which is not only easy to use but also elastic, keeps them in place. Definitely choose them among others, they are perfect!
