Having only used the old fashioned snorkel setup (eye mask + snorkel) before, it was very easy to use. I like that you can breathe through your nose as you have better visibility overall, fewer blind spots. And I really like that it automatically closes when you dive so you don't have to deflate the snorkel when you surface. I don't have enough experience to compare it to other products but from a beginner point of view I really enjoyed using it compared to the old style. I think the only downside is that the fit is less versatile. I have a small head but the small size was too big for my daughter. I feel like the size and shape of your face as well as your hairline affects the size. I don't think that would work with a beard either. And I found it bled a bit when I used sunscreen on the beach (but not a problem before we went to the beach by the pool without sunscreen). on), so I would recommend clean leather for a good seal.
