A stand is often recommended. I find the visual design quite appealing. It's human nature to just put them together and not read the instructions. The legs are different. If you turn the legs over in the deep recess, it's a number (1 or 2 [difficult to read]). Leg #1 should be on the front left and back right. Legs #2 should be right front and left back. Wobbly mess otherwise. When using spikes on metal discs (hard floor) it doesn't work - doesn't come up to top level Screw in front spikes all the way, but the thread isn't deep enough. d hole when screwed in all the way. The only solution was to use pieces of rubber for the front and spikes (on metal discs) for the back. I'm not very happy with it, but it's the only workable solution I've found for level and stability. I also just bought another mfr. 24 inch stand to see if it works because this product is visually appealing but (yes I will say so) POS performance. It's as if someone designed it on a CAD machine and then just put it into production - without actually trying it out in real life before launching it.
