The trick is to wash the windscreen thoroughly the first time, as usual - with paper towels. So be an acrobat and take the time to clean every smudge from the inside of your windshield. I use pure ammonia - nothing works better - it cleans and evaporates quickly and streak-free when done right. Open windows or doors when using ammonia! Then use the tool. Mine came with a foam pad that I cut to fit the head of the instrument - just circle the head on the foam pad. The foam liner allows the head to follow the contour of the windshield. Slide a microfiber cloth over the foam pad on the instrument's head - it takes a bit of tweaking, but it works. Spray a little ammonia on a microfiber cloth - not too much. Position the head of the tool at the bottom edge of the windshield, press down on the windshield and move the tool up until the head reaches the top of the windshield - in one continuous motion. Move a head width apart and continue. All you are doing is removing streaks from an already clean windshield - the trim should not get dirty. Takes about 5 minutes. If you use a tool to clean your windshield once or twice a month (in most cases), you don't have to first remove all the dirt the usual way.
