Bought these to upgrade my Avid BB7 mechanical disc brake kit. I had very old Magura Julies that needed a lot of maintenance so I opted for a mechanical one, plus I liked the ability to adjust the brakes on the BB7 discs. Love the fact that they are bi-directional, left/right so they can be used on either side. Leverage is what you would expect from a mechanical brake handle and ergonomics are fine with me as the brake handles are small and out of the way. I ride MTN bikes and wear gloves, so it's important to me not to get stuck in the gap between the grip and lever. The mechanism is intuitive and installation is quick and easy. Because you simply insert the brake cable through a slot in the main body when the lever is pulled fully forward, revealing a slot where the metal nipple is inserted and held. The cable should stay in this slot in the main body of the brake housing and then the adjusting nuts are turned so that the aligned slots are no longer aligned so the cable is now pinched. This means the slots will move as each nut is turned to prevent the wire from slipping. I didn't describe this with the cable already in the cable housing, but you can see the gist of it in the bike video for installing new brake cables. Great product and light price.
